I know I haven’t written in half a year so I should probably start with some sort of an explanatory apology- which I fully intend to get to..TODAY (when Cohen takes a nap so I can put one thought in order with another)- but until then I thought I would break the silence with a little bit of humor.
Yesterday morning, I was making coffee and Cohen was hanging on my leg (his normal I-want-something stance). I ground up the coffee beans and went to pour them into the french press and a few uncrushed beans fell on the ground. Before I could snatch them up, Cohen had one in his mouth and took off running. I caught up with him and was fully anticipating a sour look and for him to hand me a half chewed up bean. I was even thinking to myself it would probably look just like dirt he will come and hand me when his been digging in my potted plants for something to eat.
Instead, when I caught him, his eyes were bright and he said “nummies, Mommy” and made the sign for MORE.
No joke. My 16 month old likes the taste of coffee beans. At least of the Ethiopian variety.
So this morning I decided to sit him on the counter with the coffee beans and see if the smell would trigger his memory and entice him to once again partake of this tasty snack… and it did.
