Yesterday was a heavy day, but you cannot imagine how much better today has been! I think getting it out really does help… I thank God for all of your prayers (I can feel them) and your emails and comments and encouragement.
I spent the morning at my friend Tera’s chasing the kiddos (her two and my Co) while she visited with my Aunt Deb (I love connecting people!) And then I spent some time processing life with Pastor (I got some tears out and heard some good words.) I picked Cohen up from Shawn and we decided he needed a little fish tank at my house…. he loves the “sishies” (read: fish) at Papa’s and Daddy’s houses… so Shawn went to get a little tank and some goldfish we figured were easy enough for me to keep alive and Co and I came home and had dinner.
He was in a silly mood so I got out the video camera…normally he just wants to play with the camera and won’t do anything fun, but tonight he was on a roll. Since I am his mom, I think every second of this little movie is adorable… if you aren’t related, you might not be as enamored…. so just take one for the team, ok? I promise a more interesting post soon:)
ps- does anyone else realize they hate the sound of their own voice when they hear it recorded?!?!? I am hoping I just sound like that when I am baby-talking to my…well, baby. If not, then forgive me!
awwwww I love your video, what a stinking cute kid!
And YES, I hate the sound of my recorded voice lol… it’s funny, I told Brian as I was getting Kaylee for the first time splashing and going happily wild in her bath, I hated my voice on the video. (I’ll upload soon). I love your inserts and captions on that cutie video…
Aw, what a blessing. Love all that toddler talk. It reminded me of a few things my kids did that I had forgtotten (and they’re still pretty young 5,7,9)
Amazing video, amazing Mommy, amazing Co!
Love seeing Co in action!
I’m not sure he could get any cuter… 😉
Thanks for sharing the video…
girl, you are fast! wow. i think i’ll check that juice book out and give it a try. your little boy is precious.
So so cute! (And I understand the whole sound-of-your-own-voice-recorded thing…I’m the same way!) I love that he was just eating a whole tomato…and that he laughs with his head back! He is so adorable Kate! So glad you have him to make you laugh!
Awww, this was so cute to watch this morning- thanks for sharing your adorable son with us! Goodness… I remember the day you announced he was born- time flies! :]
And don’t worry a thing about your voice… you sound beautiful, like a proud and happy momma!
I pray you have a much better day today, Kate! Blessings!
Maybe it’s because the video is amazing, or that I am pregnant, or that I have a little toddler boy myself (haha limitless possibilities) but I am sitting here all teary eyed and smiling. I LOVE what you did! Love the video.
Oh.my.goodness! You’ve just created a legion of fans for this little guy! He is SO ADORABLE. Isn’t God good to give blessings like this in difficult times?
I love his little personality (or rather BIG personality) and how he just can’t seem to wipe the smile off his face… even while going to town on a tomato. Love how he keeps right on performing and enjoying himself.
You better watch out for all those mommy bloggers with little girls that are out there praying for a little Perfect Man like yours! 🙂
(and I mean this very seriously… please tell me what size Co wears and I will pick up that hat for him – it is on CLEARANCE here and my kiddo loves it! it does tend to garner a lot of attention from little old ladies though…!)
Oh yeah… and THANK YOU for captioning the vid… I am deaf and hate to miss out on understanding the cuteness! My kiddo is now talking too and I love his way of saying things.
(Gosh did you see how he lights up when he says the names of people he loves???!!)
my coworker & i just laughed & smiled all the way through the video of Cohen. 🙂 He’s so adorable!!!!
What a cutie! I’m diggin’ the “Euro mullet!”
SO cute! I just want to cuddle with him! haha You make me want to be a mom even more.
Ok, I don’t have any kids and I’m not totally/completely into kids, but that is one cute boy!!! The giggling with the head back, the chicken sound, the way he just keeps eating that tomato…and he loves cats! I’m a total cat lover as well.
It must be a joy to have him around. He seems so happy 😀
P.s. Good to hear you were encouraged yesterday. I’m glad we have gotten to know eachother through our blogs and comments as well!
Haha, great video!
such a CUTE video, kate!!! loved it (: Co seems like such a little ham — what a cutie (:
oh and we’ll find out early January what we’re having…kinda hoping for a boy; one of each then we’ll be done! hehe (:
meow looks pretty interested in those fishies….lunch time. 🙂
I remember him thinking all of the walnuts in the yard were “ball” too. Boys are funny.
Awwww. That video was awesome! Cohen is such a charmer. 🙂 I’ll be coming back and watching it again, for sure. I do not like the sound of my voice on video. I don’t know why but it always comes out sounds weird. Cohen looks like he loves his fishes but you may want to watch the cat. He looks like he may love the fishes too. 😉 I hope you have a good day.
Ahh Kate! That was SO adorable!!!!! Don’t you just love this age! 🙂 Hope you are doing well. 🙂
Oh Co is soooo darn cute! I can’t wait til Rain is that age (but I’ll enjoy every minute thru it all). BTW, I also hated my voice until I met my half sister a few years ago when I finally did the whole finding my bio-father (I’m adopted) and her voice is what I hear my voice as (you know what I mean? like what I think my voice sounds like), so now I don’t get so worked up about the way my voice sounds cas I just love my “new” sister!! (actually I got 2 great new sisters when I found my bio-father!)
And your posting from yesterday… I hope all these words come out right (right feelings)…. When I was a single mom and the movie “Jerry Maguire” came out – I must have been the only woman in the world that absolutely hated it. I hated it cas I just knew it wasn’t true – “You complete me” – What hog-wash!!! I just hated that sappy love story, that anyone could believe that men really thought this way, that some guy would really say that, that it was at all possible…. well I’m not gonna tell you that I got one that told me that, but I did get a new outlook on life that the only one that can complete me is me and God. (Of course it took quite a few years for me to get there.)
I know you know that, I just wanted you to remember that movies and the like can just throw us women in a tail spin wanting something that really isn’t real or is blown out of proportion. Or we get stuck on just one thing. And I also realize that sometimes we need to see (& read) that there are men out there that are good & loving, it helps us to remember not to settle – so I guess I’m saying: pinch of salt with the movies & books.
I know that there are men out there that do say “you complete me” and mean it and that do look & pine after us like in those books but first we must work on ourselves. We must be right. I know you are working hard at that (with stuff like the retreat) and talks with your pastor. You are amazing. I read your blog and your Sunday Sessions and just am amazed that you are so young! You really are a gifted writer & storyteller and I’m so glad that you share your gifts with the blogging world. I just pray that this time of trial ends soon for the two of you & you get back together if it’s God’s will. No big movie ending, no sweeping off your feet, just a solid knowledge that the 3 of you need each other and that it’s what God wants (let alone you two) & that with prayer it will come soon. This is so my prayer for you!!
PS I did get a great guy – he doesn’t say “you complete me” but he does say he loves me & he makes me laugh all the time. That’s better than the movies!
he is too cute! bryan (my 2 year old) had to come see what i was watching. when it was over he started saying, “papa.” haha! so we watched it again. he just giggled watching cohen.
Love, love, love that video! I love how you call him Co, I call my Cohen that too! My Co is totally into babies too. Whenever he sees one he yells baby!
I love his little giggle. Thanks for letting us hang out at your house during silly time! 🙂
He is ADORABLE!! And, I totally know what you mean about hearing your own voice recorded — can’t stand mine! However, I think your voice sounds great in the video. 🙂
I spent a few hours shopping and eating with my two year old little man today – just me and him and had my own little love fest – we had such a fun time and then I came home and watched your video and got all teary-eyed. I live for these sweet moments that happen in every day all day. Thanks for the super sweet video!! (and your voice doesn’t sound weird at all!)
Some tidbits of science that may be completely redundant:
1. Most of our faces are not perfectly symmetrical… which is why we dislike photos of ourselves: It’s not how we typically see ourselves as reversed in the mirror.
2. We tend to not like our recorded voice either because most of what we hear is reverberation through our skulls. Thus, we sound completely different when we actually hear our voice.
…bottom line: I’m ugly and annoying to others, but boy do I look and sound good to myself [laughing]. Sorry, world.

yes, katie, i do hate the sound of my own voice. although yours is lovely! next week i have to do a radio spot for one of our local stations and I. AM. DREDDING. Its adorable period because HE’S adorable (and honestly I kept thinking “Wow she has a beautiful voice” even BEFORE I saw your p.s. 😉 no kiddin!) and you were so sweet with him! I also love how you did the pictures and comments during the video… how did you do that?? I’m so not a techie with that kinda stuff… I want to learn though. 🙂

what a cutie!! he does have some wild hair lol no telling what kind of hair styles he’ll be able to pull off the older he gets. i loved his tomato munching.
and yes i think most people, well at least most women, all think our voices sound weird recorded. BUT i think you have a great a,b,c singing voice 🙂
great video!! my favorite part is when he giggles & throws his head back. 🙂
Awww, I’m bummed I couldn’t see the video…our internet filters our youtube and a bunch of other video sites. I’m sure it’s cute!
That was ridiculously cute!!!!!!! My Co LOVED watching and made me watch it about 10 times over!
haha… I want kids! lol. No… it wasn’t boring Kate. And you really don’t so bad recorded though I know exactly what you mean about hearing yourself on playback. Glad you got the video issues sorted. Thanks for sharing.
So glad today’s been a brighter day for you. Funny, I had a really rough day yesterday and had my friends praying…same thing. Today I can’t even remember why yesterday was such a wreck. God is GOOD! We’ll keep praying for you, Kate. 🙂
OK, LOVE the video of you and Cohen interracting. You have a sweet voice! Although I do know what you are talking about because I was desperately wishing I could have deleted my voice off the Seattle video. 😉 He is adorable and has such a loving Mommy! Be sure to post more, eh?
Sending you love and continued prayers from Oregon.

Awwww, Kate! That is the most adorable thing ever! Thanks for sharing. And it was good to hear your voice, baby talking or not! It’s weird because i’ve never heard your actual voice before and hearing it like that, well it made me feel connected to you more than just reading your blogs or e-mailing! 🙂 🙂 So thanks!
